PhD Candidate
Miranda graduated from the University of Toronto in 2018 after completing a double major in Neuroscience and Biology, with a minor in Physiology. She joined the Woodin Lab in 2019 upon completion of a research placement at the University of Oxford’s Auditory Neuroscience Group, where she researched the differential roles of excitatory and inhibitory neurotransmission in frequency tuning. Currently, Miranda’s PhD project aims to characterize hyperexcitability in C9orf72 ALS using electrophysiology, biochemistry, and chemogenetics. Her research interests are in synaptic transmission and imbalances in excitatory and inhibitory signaling.
