Gajeni graduated from the University of Toronto in 2024 with a specialist degree in Cell and Molecular Biology and a major in Neuroscience. As an undergraduate, she joined the Woodin Lab as a CSB project student, where she explored the roles of KCC2 and NKCC1—key regulators of chloride homeostasis—during critical time points of the GABA switch in Huntington’s disease. Now expanding on this work for her Master’s research, Gajeni is investigating synaptic inhibition during these same developmental time points. Using electrophysiology and biochemical assays, her research aims to further understand how alterations in chloride regulation contribute to neurodevelopmental disruptions in Huntington’s disease.
