Postdoctoral Fellow
Melissa Serranilla (she/her) is a postdoctoral fellow at the Woodin Lab. She holds an undergraduate degree in Human Biology from the University of Toronto, showcasing her strong academic foundation.
Her recent accomplishments include the successful completion of her PhD, during which she conducted groundbreaking research on synaptic inhibition and chloride regulation in Huntington’s disease. Employing advanced techniques such as patch clamp electrophysiology, biochemical analyses, and behavioral assays, Melissa made significant contributions to our understanding of this complex neurodegenerative disorder.
Beyond her scientific pursuits, Melissa finds solace and fulfillment in Mixed Martial Arts, where she embraces the physical and mental challenges of the discipline. In her spare time, she also curates personal playlists.
